Features of Online Bidding:
Max Bids
A max bid is an amount that you are willing to pay for the lot and it allows the system to automatically bid for you in increments that do not go above your max bid.
- This ensures that your bidding can continue in the event you are unable to bid when the auction is closing.
- For example: Say the current bid on an item is $4. If Lisa places a maximum bid of $10 on an item, the current bid will go up to $5. If Judith then places a bid of $6, the system will automatically set the bid to the next increment, $7, and Lisa would win the lot if there was no further bidding.
- Setting a max bid does not mean you will end up paying the maximum amount, you will only pay the amount the bid has been won at.
Standard 10-minute extension Timer
To allow every bidder an equal chance to increase their bids, there is a standard 10-minute extension timer.
- All of our online auctions are Timed Auctions. This allows a single lot to be up for sale for a fixed amount of time.
- So, in the last 10 minutes that the lot is open for bidding, any bidding activity will activate a 10-minute extension timer. Each new bid will reset the timer.
- For example: Say the auction ends at 19:00, if Tapiwa bids at 18:56, the auction will be extended to 19:06. Bryan then bids at 19:04 which triggers another 10 minutes extension to 19:14. This continues until there are no additional bids within the 10 minute extension period.
